SCRANTON ELECTRICIANS INSIDE WIREMAN ELECTRICAL APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM

ABOUT OUR PROGRAM

The Scranton Electricians JATC  is associated with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) and  The Electrical Training Alliance to provide the best trained, most up to date inside wireman workforce.

The apprenticeship is a four (4) period program of required 8000 hours of on-the-job training and 720 hours of classroom instruction. Classes typically run a traditional school year, starting in late August to May.

Apprentices, once selected, can go to work prior to school starting and apprentices typically work year-round. Classes are held at our training facility in Clarks Summit and generally are two (2) nights a week with some additional nights, weekends as needed for additional training (i.e. OSHA, Code Updates, CPR, First Aid, etc.). Although we are a tuition-free program, there are some costs for the apprentices - Book/course(s),  hand tools, appropriate clothing etc.  . We participate in community service events (i.e. we wire the Italian Festival every year, march in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, and have done different projects and events with Griffin Pond, Marley’s Mission, and the Boy Scouts to name a few).

Our apprentices will receive training in telecommunications wiring, fiber optics, fire alarms, programmable logic controllers, power quality, safe work practices, the National Electrical Code, and much more. By time the apprentice reaches journeyman status, they will have earned the equivalent of 47 semester hours of college credits, according to the American Council of Education.

Apprentice wages are based on a percentage of the inside wireman wage. Increases occur annually. Benifits include Health & Welfare, Annuity andPension(s).
